This month we are concentrating our efforts on some fundraising, whilst also having a bit of fun, for Tapping House.
It all starts on 2nd March when I am going to be arrested (I am of course hoping for handsome officers) and locked up in a cell. A ransom is required for my release so any donations would be much appreciated especially as I’m cooking ther main courses for Hell’s Kitchen on 3rd. That is unless you have a warped sense of humour and leave me to rot in a cell wh... Read More >> |

Well folks, here we are in the glorious month of March. The month where we change the clocks to British summertime!!! Summer? Wonder how long it will be this year?? Before we get excited we have the lovely season of spring. With all the beautiful spring flowers popping their heads out for some sunshine (hopefully). Working in the retail world, you notice that people seem much happier when the sun shines, so let us all hope that the gloom and misery that winter brings is... Read More >> |

Dear friends,
For any holiday or journey we need to make preparations, especially if we’re going to be away for a while. Clothes, food, money, are just a few things we need to consider. In the Christian Church we are about to begin a journey. We are heading for Jerusalem where we shall celebrate the Passover with Jesus. In doing so we shall be caught up him in the events that surrounded his visit to that Holy City. But our journey isn’t just to visit the city of Jerusalem, but to journey ... Read More >> |

Greetings from the manse
Recently I had the opportunity to inspect a first edition of the King James Bible at a Methodist do. It was kindly loaned out for the occasion from Norwich Cathedral. It was huge. You wouldn’t get it in your pocket or in your bag. It might fit in a large suitcase but you would struggle to carry it any distance even if you could lift it. It was big. Primarily they were printed to be read in church services rather than for private use. Many were chained to reading ... Read More >> |

Sunday 23rd January saw a very special celebration at Hunstanton Methodist Church. A tea party and communion service marked the 100th birthday of Mrs Kathleen Softley, a church member since she moved to Hunstanton some seventy years ago. Kathleen, accompanied by her daughter Margaret, welcomed friends and neighbours old and new, ladies from Hunstanton WI, of which she was a founder member, and the Deputy Mayor of Hunstanton, Mrs Carol Bower (pictured above).

King David the writer of the Psalms in the bible wrote that God’s word was a light to show him how to walk out his life. Most of us have at least one bible in the house. It cost William Tyndale his life to give us the bible in our own language; he was burnt at the stake. There are still many parts of the world where it is dangerous to own one, and yet we who have had freedom to read it for centuries often ignore it completely.

Jewelled heads bowed by early morning dew,
glistening snow white in beauty unadorned.

Reserved in quiet unassumed humility,

March lemon light rays,
warming spring joy upon my face.
An uninvited but welcome guest,

like gentlemen exalted to stately grandeur.

The winter reed-cutting programme at Titchwell Marsh RSPB was completed by the end of February. This is an important aspect of our habitat management work, because reed cutting prevents the reedbed from drying out. Overtime without its annual cut, the reed bed would dry out to the point where it is no longer wet enough to support reed. We would then lose our rare reed dependent species like bittern and bearded tit.
This winter we opened up large areas of the reed bed to the east... Read More >> |
