CCTV Report - December 2005

At the November meeting of the Hunstanton Area Action Group of the N.W. Norfolk Crime and Disorder Group (Safer West Norfolk) a presentation was made of the recent results from our new CCTV cameras.

Between 1st May and 31st October, about forty ‘incidents’ were recorded.  The interesting point is that as a result of information passed on to the Police, the images led to 18 arrests.  Since not all the incidents were criminal or public order events and included lost children, illnesses, injuries etc, the 18 arrests seem to be an encouraging result.

It’s a great relief to know that most of our town is now covered by CCTV, and that not only crime is spotted, although hopefully the law breakers will eventually learn not to bother with Hunstanton, but also in the event of a child becoming lost or a frail person having a fall, the incident could well be overseen and help summoned.  Well done to all concerned.
