APR 11 Royal Wedding Festival Weekend
Christine Earnshaw
Notice the new title! Prince William and his new princess will be on their honeymoon while Hunstanton enjoys an excuse to be happy, to have fun and celebrate. We don’t have to be Royalists to participate; it should be the joy we all share when young love blossoms. I hope you have seen the posters and banners designed by our own Kate; we are very grateful to Kate Dunbar for giving her time to this project and waiving her fee as have so many others both in time or money. Carol Bower was interviewed on Radio Norfolk and we continue to get excellent publicity in the press so we are hoping for a really good attendance.
Thank you for all the offers for wedding dresses; I will be in touch with everyone on the list to advise on whose dress is going where. There will be 10 in M&Co’s window with the others in Serendipity, Cherry Tree Chocolates, Legges, Heroes, Horizon, Sense and YMCA.
We have heard of several couples who have been married well over 60 years and at the time of writing we know one of 71 years. The Rendezvous Café has kindly offered to host a Red Carpet Tea Party at 4 o’clock on Friday for invited couples with the ‘winner’ arriving in a chauffeur- driven Bentley. There is plenty of room for others to join in this tea party as well. I’ll be there for sure!
` So what else is new? M&Co are giving us a Fashion Show on Sunday at 2o’clock in the Town Hall – and yes, we are looking out for models. There will be many interesting stands at this Fair so don’t miss out on this.
Smithdon will be performing songs from Wizard of Oz on the Lower Green at 1.00 on Saturday, and Paige Jordan at 5pm.
On Sunday, King’s Lynn Free Runners will be demonstrating Parkour at 11.00 am and offering workshops for the kids. This should be exciting to watch and participate in! Also, Steve Murfit is bringing power kites to the Lower Green for people of all ages to try.
We are very pleased to announce that every junior school child in ther town will be given a commemorative plate courtesy of Moss Bakery, High Street, Hunstanton.
I haven’t seen the colour programme attached to this month’s Newsletter but I’m sure it will be most impressive although I had better warn you that it may yet be added to as more and more people want to ‘come to the party’! Thank you to all who continue to support the weekend.
