OCT 10 FLOWER OF THE MONTH

Nick Godfrey-Cole

I must say that this morning I saw something quite amazing! What? I hear you ask. Well like so many townsfolk, I ventured down to watch The Tour of Britain cycle race. What a spectacle. Well done to all the organisers of such a great and well attended event. Hope that similar amounts of people come out to support Christmas Cracker Event, Hunstanton’s own Pantomime and 2011 Carnival next year. These, and all local events take so much time and effort to organise for our pleasure, but it is only with our support that these events can take place.

Throughout the year, I do small, but very well attended flower demonstrations, the next being in November ( details in next months issue) and always pleased with turnout, this making it worth while. The demonstration I shall be doing will loosely incorporate the Autumn season with Christmas. Being far too early to talk about the festive season, we are now moving into the month of October, the beautiful Autumn season. I love this time of year for the colours, fragrances of nature, stunning sunsets, both mine and Kevin's Birthdays too. With the changeable weather, turning colours and fruits and berries in abundance. Chrysanthemums are usually associated with the Autumn even though available all year round but a readily available stream of berries, fruits and grasses are available from our suppliers. Hypericum with numerous varieties such as Dolly Parton, named for reasons we won’t get into!!! Ice Classic, Coco Cherie. Unusual varities of stems such as Rubus, an ornamental blackberry, Rosa Amazing Fantasy which is a rose hip with no thorns, Symphoricarpus or snowberry. These are just a few of a huge selection available during the Autumn season. Some are in stock within our shop and all can be ordered to requirements.

This season is good for textures and unusual items but simple things like apples pushed onto sticks can make any bunch, bouquet or arrangement look different, and is simple enough for all to do.

Our shop is now stocked, with new stock arriving regularly. So for a gift or a room fragrance spray, an elegant vase of fresh or artificial blooms or a block of oasis, visit Scent with love, 34 Greevegate, Hunstanton.

Does anyone in Hunstanton have a Military Uniform or any military or war time items that we can borrow for a window to commemorate Remembrance Day in November? Please contact Nick.
