SEP 10 BJORN AGAIN

Miriam Hodson

Travelling towards Wells from Hunstanton we saw many placards on the roadside verges advertising the ‘Bjorn Again’ concert to be held at Holkham in September  -  even on our journey towards Northampton we saw them on the roadside.

They reminded me of the verses in John Chapter 3, when Jesus answered Nicodemus’s question by telling him that “unless one is born again he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” and “unless one is born of water and spirit, he cannot enter the Kingdom of God  -  that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”  -  meaning that apart from our natural birth we need a spiritual birth to understand the things of God, and to have a relationship with Him.

It is because of our sinful nature “For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3 v23) that our relationship has been broken; but God has provided a way for it to be restored.

Jesus came into our world to live a sinless life in order to bear our sins on a cross at Calvary. If we are willing to accept His sacrifice, acknowledging our sins, asking God for His forgiveness and inviting Jesus into our lives; we can then live a New Life by being born again into the family of God.

New life also reminds me of another advertisement, by a kitchen firm, offering new life to your kitchen by replacing the cupboard doors. We may not all need new kitchen doors but we all need New Life, offered by God, if we also want to spend eternity in heaven with Him when we leave our time here on earth.
