JAN 10 GIRLGUIDING

 Hunstanton Brownies

We enjoyed taking part in the Shoe Box Service at the Union Church and we had a good turn out. We have held a race night, and made fancy hats, took part in lots of races and were awarded gold medals, this took up a lovely 2 meetings.  On the 2nd December we borrowed the county handchimes, which are kept in Lowestoft, we had a member of the Trefoil Guild come and join us and have a session with all the Brownies teaching them to play the handchimes, we finished our meeting to Brownie Bells played on the handchimes, it was a lovely meeting.

Hunstanton Guides

1st Hunstanton Guides held an early Christmas at Redgate Junior School at the end of November.  We arrived on the Saturday morning and set about decorating the hall with tinsel, paper chains and put up our Christmas tree.  We took part in various activities before having our own Christmas party in the evening.  We then set up for bed in the hall which saw 17 guides, 1 young leader and 4 very tired leaders trying to settle down.  By about 1am the majority had drifted off to sleep.

Sunday morning we were up fairly early and were a little concerned to see that Santa had not paid us a visit in the night.  Thankfully he had stopped by the kitchen and left us a large bag of presents in there.

More activities in the morning was followed by our own Christmas dinner with all the trimmings.  The afternoon was rounded off by the traditional pantomime...although we did have a little twist to ours.  We were treated to performances by the Guides of Sleeping Beauty and Cinderella.  Both stories had to be told in the space of 15 minutes.  They were both superb and highly entertaining.

A huge well done and thank you to everyone who was involved in the weekend.  Also a huge thank you to Redgate Junior school for their hospitality. The reason for the weekend was for me to obtain the first part of my camp/holiday licence so that our unit can go away together on camps etc.  We are all excited at the prospect of joining in with NORJAM in 2010 where we will part of a jamboree hosting 5000 Scouts, Guides, Ventures and Rangers from around the world.  An ideal way to remember in the years to come of what we did as a unit during

the Centenary celebrations.
