JAN 10 CALLING ALL SINGERS

An exciting new event is about to happen in Hunstanton.  Professional musician, Claire Bloor, is starting a Community Choir based at Glebe House School.  Claire has previously worked with Gareth Malone from BBC’s ‘The Choir’.  She also directed the Hanse Choir and is still choir director of Singers Inspired in Downham Market.

The Choir will meet every Tuesday evening from 7pm to 8.30pm starting on Tuesday 11th January.  Everyone is welcome, there will be no auditions and no experience or music reading ability is required.  The atmosphere is very informal; we want people to feel welcome.

This is a community initiative run in partnership between the Iceni Ensemble and The Glebe School . The cost of each session will be £3 per person. For more information please contact Claire on 07817 768552.

Claire Bloor- Choir Director

After graduating from The Royal Academy of Music, Claire was Animateur-in-Residence at the Wigmore Hall from 2005-2006, collaborating with artists such as Gareth Malone, The Carnival Band and Dominic Harlen. While there, Claire was commissioned to create a project based around Poulenc’s Flute Sonata titled ‘A Big Day Out’, and performed the premiere of a piece written by local children for Sir Peter Maxwell Davies, presented for him at the Wigmore Hall.

The Iceni Ensemble formed in 2008, the Iceni Ensemble is based in Norfolk and has a core membership of professional musicians who either live or were born in East Anglia. Members of several of Britain’s finest chamber ensembles and leading orchestras are frequent players: 2008-2009 saw representation from members of the Bingham, Bliss, Duke, Kreutzer and Solaris string quartets alongside musicians from the London Sinfonietta, London Symphony Orchestra, BBC Concert, Orchestra, BBC Symphony Orchestra and City of London Sinfonia.

With the four core-members of this project, Ivan McCready, Peter Marchbank, Sheena Carman and Claire Bloor, the ensemble’s aim is to go from strength to strength, building bridges with the local community through an accessible programme of chamber music, dynamic educational workshops and orchestral concerts, all of the highest quality.
