JAN 10 GARDENING GALORE
By Peter Davidson
The Gardeners’ Association held its Annual Meeting recently in the Community Centre, when the Committee for the next twelve months was elected. Plans outlined for the year included an excellent line-up of speakers for the winter lecture season, most of whom are endorsed by the Royal Horticultural Society.
A number of two and three day holiday suggestions for the Spring of 2010 were put to the members for their comments, and it was subsequently established that there would be interest in a two-day visit to the magnificent new gardens at Alnwick Castle, coupled with a visit to Lindisfarne and a tour of the Northumberland coastline. Once the details are finalised, it is hoped that sufficient numbers will come forward to make such a trip possible.
The Association also organises day and half-day visits to famous gardens in East Anglia during the summer months and these are always extremely popular with members, and the plans for the coming year will shortly be made available to members. The Association always welcomes new members and anyone wishing to join or simply find out more about it, should telephone the Membership Secretary Mrs Canny Jones on 01485 535034.
