DEC 09 POPPY APPEAL
John Crisford
During the Poppy Appeal I carried out a door to door collection of all the bungalows on the Bennett's estate on Manorfields, using envelopes. These envelopes allowed residents to declare their donations as Gift Aid, thus anybody who did complete the Gift Aid slip and included it with their donation, the Royal British Legion will be able to claim tax from the government’s revenue department.
I am pleased to report that the collection of envelopes raised £668.62 which includes Gift Aid of £97.72. Through your very readable newsletter, I wish to thank the many residents on the Bennett's estate, who contributed towards this staggering total, very much indeed. I am sure, that coupled with the generosity of all the other residents and visitors to Hunstanton, Old Hunstanton, Ringstead and Holme-next-the-Sea, this year's Poppy collection will be the best ever and I am very grateful to you all of you on behalf of The Royal British Legion for your donations.
This year's Poppy Appeal collection is still being counted by our local Poppy Appeal Organiser, Kevin Green and I'm sure he will publish our area total in the Newsletter, when it is known. He and his "gang" of collectors along with Kay Arnott, who organises the poppy wreathes, deserve our very sincere thanks for their efforts over the three week period. Finally, if anybody reading this wants to get involved with the Poppy Appeal in future, please do not hesitate to contact any RBL member or contact me on (01485) 534233. You don't have to be a member to be a collector, but obviously we would welcome you into membership if you are interested.
