NOV 09 HUNSTANTON CATHOLIC PARISH
Church of Our Lady and St Edmund, Sandringham Road, with St Cecilia’s, Dersingham
Stepping Out
We had a dry and breezy day for our annual sponsored walk on September 13th. Well fortified with soup, twenty-one parishioners (and one dog) followed the route from the church to the cliff top and around the town, returning to tea and cake in the parish room. This is one of our long-established fund-raising events, and at the time of going to press the sum raised appears to have broken all records. Our thanks go to the walkers and their very generous sponsors.
Come and see
We are always happy to welcome visitors to our services, whether they are visiting the parish from elsewhere, or live in the area. Refreshments are served after the 11am Mass every Sunday at the church in Hunstanton, and after the 9am Mass at Dersingham on the first Sunday of the month. We also have a friendly and informal gathering after the 10.15 Mass at Dersingham on Wednesdays. Do come and visit – we’d love to see you.
Looking Forward
Plans are well advanced for our autumn Ladies’ Lunch on November 14th. The speaker at the lunch will be from the Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House and will be bringing us up to date on their work and their plans for the future. We look forward to welcoming ladies from other churches and organisations to this event, which takes place at St Cecilia’s in Dersingham.
Celebrating the Harvest
Everyone was well fed and in good voice on the occasion of our Harvest Supper, which was held at St Cecilia’s, Dersingham, on 9th October. It was a very happy celebration, with a delicious meal produced by a team led by Roisin Wellard, and with entertainment provided by Fr James, who got us all singing along, as well as delivering some entertaining solo performances. Our final song was ‘We plough the fields and scatter’, and as we made our way home, there were clear signs that it had rained during the evening, prompting us to start planning the next round of digging and planting….
