DANGEROUS JUNCTION

I noted with interest that a Hunstanton road junction has recently been labelled one of the most dangerous in Norfolk. Indeed the crossroads at the junction of Sandringham road and Park road has been the site of a recent number of nasty collisions.

My understanding of the matter is that people using Park Road approach Sandringham Road without realising that they are on the minor road. The very nature of the junction tends to mislead the casual driver. When you drive towards the sea down Park Road it appears to be the wider, straighter road and it’s hard to realise that you need to stop.

Some accident prevention/ road safety group have just erected two signs on Sandringham road warning everyone that this is a high risk accident area; A noble attempt, but what a waste of money.

There is nothing to warn you of the actual risk, and in fact, by the time you’ve read and noted the sign, you are probably at the junction anyway, and about to be side-swiped by some idiot.

Surely a better use of public money would have been to repaint the faded give way road markings? Perhaps also cut back any trees obscuring the road sign, or even install some traffic calming measures.

THE BURNHAMS

Being bred and born in Burnham Market I feel I must correct Dick Melton. There are only seven Burnhams not eight as he says. At the time of that rhyme Burnham Overy Staithe was called just Overy Staithe, Burnham was not added until the latter part of the 20th century.

INFLATION

Inflation, what Inflation?

There must be a void between Holme Next the Sea Council and reality. They have just increased rents by 31%, yes 31%.

Read the newspapers, see television, Britain in turmoil, but not it seems at Holme. This price increase on the working class holiday makers means pay up or lose your holiday home. How can this be justified or is just a clever ruse  to recoup some of the £66,000.00 they paid to buy a field which has no use, except to grow grass, or is it to force out the working class and bring in the wealthy who can afford these prices thereby making both the council and owners richer?
