OCT 09 HUNSTANTON CATHOLIC PARISH
Church of Our L:ady and St Edmund, Sandringham Road, with St Cecilia’s, Dersingham
August 23rd was a great day of celebration in the parish as three young members of the Church made their first Holy Communion. This is a very important event in their developing relationship with Jesus and the members of the parish send Jonny, Kirsty and Ursula our love and congratulations as well as our assurance of our prayers for them.
At the beginning of September, a number of parishioners joined the Dowry of Mary Pilgrimage to Walsingham. This is an annual event and this year was ‘Celebrating the truly universal character of the Church of England’ It was a happy and colourful day, in glorious weather, and thoroughly enjoyed by those who attended.
On September 8th we welcomed Nick Grounds to St Cecilia's where he gave a flower arranging master class based on the theme ‘Flotsam and Jetsam’ to over 120 enthusiasts from the parish and beyond. The money raised at this event which included a raffle, an auction and teas with some delicious cakes, came to £500 which will be divided equally between the British Heart Foundation and parish funds.
We are always happy to welcome visitors to our services. Refreshments are served after the 11am Mass every Sunday in Hunstanton and after the 9am Mass at Dersingham on the first Sunday of the month. We also have a friendly and informal gathering after the 10.15am Mass at Dersingham on Wednesdays. Do come and visit - we’d love to see you.
As autumn arrives, our minds turn to thoughts of….food! On October 9th we hold our Harvest Supper. The autumn Ladies’ Lunch takes place on 14th November when the speaker will be from the Norfolk Hospice, Tapping House and we welcome all ladies from the area to the lunch - free tickets nearer the date.
