OCT 09 ST EDMUND'S PARISH CHURCH
By Father John, Vicar
For the time-being CrossBeat has ceased publication, due to a variety of reasons. We at St Edmund’s thank Elaine for her offer of publicising events through the Hunstanton News Letter. Fr Michael Sellors, my predecessor, began CrossBeat which would go into every house of the 2 parishes within the benefice of Hunstanton St Edmund and Ringstead. His idea was to let everyone know what went on in the 2 parishes. The Church of England, being the established church is a spiritual home for everyone regardless of their faith.
Our Sunday worship is: 8am Eucharist, 10.30am Parish Eucharist and Sunday School, 5pm Evensong. The Eucharist is celebrated on the following weekdays: Tuesday at 7pm, Wednesday at 10.30am and Saturday at 9am. Benediction is at 5.30pm on the first Thursday of the month, (1st of October) and the Rosary said at 9.45am on the third Wednesday of the month (14th October)
Special services this month: We are delighted to host the Civic Service at St Edmund’s which will be on Sunday 4th of October at 3pm. Sunday 18th October is the feast of St Luke when there will be a healing service at 5pm.
Looking ahead to November, we begin the month on Sunday the 1st of November which is the feast of All Saints. All Souls follows on the 2nd. As this is a Monday the All Souls Service will be at 5pm on Sunday 1st. At this service we remember our departed loved ones. The service includes the candle lighting ceremony when we all come forward to light a candle for those who have died. A list of names is read out, and anyone is welcome to add the names of departed loved ones they wish to remember. A list will be available in church for 2 weeks before the service. Anyone is welcome to come and add names to the list for the commemoration.
