SEP 09 CARNIVAL DAY IN SUNNY HUNNY

The Carnival has been.  What a day of fun

on Hunst’on Green.  With lots and lots of sun

an early start to get every thing ready

all up with the lark and had an early breaky.

It started with Pub Wars; games for all.

Four teams in the tug of war, big and small.

The sack race and egg race made them trot.

All that welly wanging was the best of the lot.

Then came the bands and the other displays;

with dogs in the arena going all ways.

The fair in the corner, the kids loved it all,

Bungy jump, trampoline and bouncy castle so tall.

The Parade from the Lighthouse down to the town,

with Dalmatians, fairies, Mary Poppins, even a clown.

The gardeners trudged along with their hoes all ready.

Mr Kabir with his cart slow and steady.

The Mayor was there riding in the Land train.

A Rolls Royce, a truck, what’s that a plane

wrong way up in the High Street down to the Green?

The best place in Hunst’on for all to be seen.

The Carnival Queen, with attendants looking smashing,

the stewards with buckets for all to put cash in,

spread out on the Green what a marvellous sight.

After all that hard work it all went all right.

The sun shone down ‘till the people had gone.

So many people, on the Green, on the Prom.

This day in Sunny Hunny a day not to forget.

It’s the best Carnival the town has ever seen yet.
