SEP 09 NEWS FROM HUNSTANTON CHAMBER OF TRADE

By James Johnson

Welcome to Hunstanton & District Chamber of Trade, as you may recall the chamber was dissolved a few years ago due to lack of support. Last year some business people got our Chamber together to reform and now the chamber is stronger than ever because of their enthusiasm.

As you know we organized the hugely successful Christmas Cracker event last year and due to your overwhelming support over 2500 people attended.  On behalf of the chamber we are most grateful, so much so that this year it promises to be bigger and better.

We are very grateful for the support we get from the Borough Council especially Alistair Cox and Sheena Carmen who put in a tremendous amount of work.

The Chamber is not only about organizing events such as the Christmas Cracker, we were instrumental in getting the Borough Council to change its policy on valentines Road car park charges. You can now park for 50p all day as long as you arrive before 10.00am

We are currently looking at Tesco’s proposal for an extension on the “sheep field” area. Whilst we support we support the development of this site to include social housing we are conscious of the effect it may have on the town centre and in that context we will be talking to Tesco’s and the Borough Council in the near future.

If you are interested in joining the chamber and we hope you are as the more members we have the stronger our representation we have at local and national level, then please contact me at 62 Westgate, Hunstanton. Telephone: 534948. Even if you are not in business we would still like to hear your views.
