SEP 09 GIRL GUIDING
By Dawn Davies
GirlguidingUK are starting a fantastic year as we go into our Centenary Year, on the 5th September 2009 we will be starting our celebrations with a Launch Party (details of what we did next month). Culminating in a Grand Finale on 20 10 20 10 2010 (ten past eight 20th October 2010), We will be doing what girls do best, that is party all year.
Centenary Duck
If you see me about town with a strange looking Pink Duck, I have not gone completely mad, it is because GirlguidingUK is asking people to take pictures, during the coming year, of a Centenary Duck taken in unusual places. There are three coloured ducks, yellow, blue and pink. I have named my pink one Raspberry. When the pictures are taken they are uploaded onto www.flickr.com, if you do a search for dawnbirduk or centenary duck you should find my pictures, as well as those taken by other people. Next term we will be lending the ducks to the brownies and asking them to take pictures.
Hunstanton Brownies
On 20th June we had a District Outing, and took part in Archery, Canoeing, Kayaking, Orienteering and lots of other activities at Hautbois House, Coltishall. We had a great day and everyone who attended thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
On the 21st June we took part in our Parade Service at the Union Church, it was a successful and fun service which I think everybody enjoyed. On the 24th June we planted our flower bed as part of Hunstanton in Bloom, it is at the lower spinney and well worth a look, our flower bed was designed by one of the brownies Shannon Lee. On the 28th June we took part in Hunstanton Carnival and won first place in the community walking float section with our interpretation of Mary Poppins. We also continued the Mary Poppins theme in Heacham Carnival on the 2nd August, and once again won the walking float section.
Girlguiding Norfolk
I have attending several meetings during the term with my PR hat on, I have travelled to Norwich, Royal Norfolk Show, Hitchin in Hertfordshire and our Headquarters in London, we finished off the term with a District meal at the lovely venue of The Yurt in Thornham.
